Project Mission

The mission of the Free Korean Association, in collaboration with North Korean refugees residing in the United States, is to establish a memorial space that pays solemn tribute to the countless nameless victims of the North Korean regime. Our mission extends beyond commemorating the estimated 3 million lives tragically lost; it encompasses fostering empathy, raising awareness about human rights abuses, and creating a platform for education, dialogue, and advocacy.

Project Proposal

I. Executive Summary:

The Free Korean Association, in collaboration with North Korean refugees in the United States, proposes the establishment of a memorial space to honor and remember the countless nameless victims of the North Korean regime. This memorial aims to pay tribute to the estimated 3 million individuals whose lives were tragically lost due to the oppressive regime's actions, encompassing a broader narrative that includes the sacrifices made during the mid-1990s when resources were diverted to nuclear development, leading to mass starvation.

II. Project Overview:

The memorial seeks to serve as a poignant reminder of the suffering endured by the North Korean people, providing a dedicated space for reflection, remembrance, and education. It will raise awareness about human rights abuses and atrocities committed by the regime, fostering empathy and understanding among visitors.
